Beck and Greyson

I seem to be the only person that thinks Beck and Greyson look a lot alike as newborns.
Greyson definitely has chubbier cheeks, but I really think they look very similar.
Here are a few comparisons.
We didn't even mean to get this exact pose with both boys, but lucky for us, we did!

Beck at 3 weeks old:

Greyson at 2 1/2 weeks old:

All I know is, I think my boys are adorable and I can't get enough of them!

Greyson is a month

Little Greyson is ONE {month}
Ok technically he is now 6 weeks, and in newborn time, that is sooo much older.
After Greyson's one month check up I guess I shouldn't be calling him "Little Greyson" anymore.
This kid gained almost 3 lb since he was born!
and that doesn't account for the weight he gained after losing weight in the hospital.
Can I say my kid is a chunk?
At his one month appointment he weighed 10 lb 12 oz 75%
Height: 22 in 60%
Head circumfrence: 15" 50%

Ok. By the looks of him he isn't really chubby
but he is growing SO fast!
He really doesn't look like a newborn anymore.
As I'm skimming through pictures to post,
most of them seem too outdated to post because he looks so different already.

Life around these parts has been pretty uneventful.
Two kids is definitely busier than one,
and I find myself talking myself out of running errands most days
because the hassle of loading up both kids and lugging them into a store seems too ambitious.
I have found that I really enjoy the solitude of my late-night grocery runs.

Greyson is a pretty typical six week old.
He is still eating every 2-3 hours
(even at night)
although we're hoping that starts to spread out soon.
He naps a lot, but is usually awake for awhile after he eats during the day.
He is full of smiles
and if you break eye contact with him he will grunt and coo to get you to look back
and then erupt back into a smile when you do.

In the afternoons he gets a bit fussy after feedings.
I think it is a bit of gas.
But oh my...look at that pout!

We find that tummy time does wonders for it though.
He loves being on his tummy.
He has a really strong neck and can hold it up as long as he needs to.

Part of me expected Beck to suddenly lose interest in Greyson and
stop rushing over to give him hugs and kisses 50 times a day.
This isn't the case though, and I am so glad.
He really, truly loves his baby brother.
I am happy to announce that he HAS eased up a bit on the poking and prodding though
and usually can give a quick hug and kiss and be on his way.
Up until yesterday Beck calls Greyson "Baby", even when we asked what his name is.
He has now decided that he can say his name though and says "Hi Greyson" over and over again,
instead of "Hi Baby". (although it sounds more like "Seyson")

Greyson is just as interested in Beck as ever and won't take his eyes off of him when he is around.
I have a feeling these boys will be building forts and playing horsey in no time.

Greyson is a joy.
His smile is so bright.

He sleeps fine at night, but he is a very restless sleeper during naps.
...unless you are holding him that is.

Baby Grey,
It feels like you were born yesterday,
although you fit into our family like you've been here all along.
Keep smiling baby boy,
Love, Momma

Our little Grey

More beautiful pictures by Jalene, although the beautiful child is provided by me ;)

This little angel has blessed our lives for almost 4 weeks now.
un.bah.leave.a.bull.
Seriously, where does time go?

Little Greyson is so wonderful to have around.
I remember reading on a friend's blog
that her second baby just fit into the family so well and they hardly remember life before her.
I feel the same way.
and really, newborns seem so much easier compared to a two year old!

The most difficult part so far has been making sure that big brother doesn't smother him to death with love.
I still can't set Greyson down unattended because
Beck will drop whatever he is doing to give loves to Greyson.
"Hi baby"
"Oh baby" (in a sing-songy voice)
"cute!"
all while hugging, and kissing, and holding his head.
Then comes the whines from Grey.
"Baby sad?!"
"Baby crying!"
and the attempts to pick him up or shove a binky into his mouth.

Of course,
its a delicate balance because we don't want to discourage him from showing love for his brother,
but want the poor baby to get some undisturbed rest every now and then :)

(Greyson's eyes say it all don't they?)

I am so glad Beck loves his brother
but we are hoping his "enthusiasm" starts to wain a touch in the near future.

As far as temperament goes, Greyson is a pretty mellow kid
He eats every 2 1/2 to 3 hours but is a speedy nurser, which I love.
He has just started getting a little bit gassy and spit-uppy after feedings,
but as long as we burp him well it doesn't bother him much.

We are getting more and more smiles out of him each week.
Last night Chase and I were talking to him while he was sleeping.
I told him his momma loved him and a huge smile erupted in his sleep.

We laughed and then Chase added that he loved him too
and once again, another huge sleepy grin.

Although most wouldn't consider him to be "chubby"
he is so much chubbier than Beck as a newborn so we love to pinch his little rolls.

Add caption
Although he is bigger than Beck was as as newborn,
his hands and feet are itty bitty compared to Beck's

He has the same little swirly callic that Chase and Beck do on the back of their head.

Little Greyson loves to snuggle
He likes a binky but could live without it.
He still sleeps a lot but we are getting more and more periods of awake time during the day.
He loves to be swaddled,
and will calm instantly with the sound of Chase's voice or my soft "shhhh" sound in his ear.

He is still fitting in most of his newborn stuff and a few 0-3 month clothes as well.

We've been working on the sleep, eat, play routine
He is a total milk dud after eating and we have a hard time waking him up enough to play after nursing.
The only thing that will definitely get him up (and angry) every time is changing his diaper.
He still hates that, but I don't really blame him.

We are just so in love with our two boys.
Watching your oldest become a big brother strengthens your love to levels you didn't realize were possible.
and then adding another babe to the family just expands your heart that much more.
Its amazing how much you can love a little creature before they've even shown you who they are inside.
Greyson is just so precious.
I can't wait to see what the world has in store for him.
He fits into our family so perfectly already.
We are happy in the Taylor household today.

18 weeks

Pregnancy is fun.
I probably wouldn't have said that between weeks 8 and 14.
and I'm pretty sure I won't proclaim it on a (semi) public forum between weeks 36-40...
However right now, I can honestly say:
I love being pregnant!

18 weeks

Most of the queasiness is gone.
I finally have a bit more energy.
I've got a baby bump, but I'm not huge and uncomfortable yet.
Even the heartburn hasn't hit full force.

Not only that,
but I have been feeling the little tyke swim around for a few weeks now.
Chase even got to feel a little kick.
We both loved it!

Besides giving birth and meeting the baby,
by far the best part of pregnancy is that ultrasound when you find out the gender.
With Beck, the ultrasound technician took his time in telling us the sex.
He kept pointing out different body parts and finally announced our boy.

This time the technician didn't waste any time.
She had barely slabbed the jelly on my belly before she said
"Look at that, its a BOY!!"
It happened so fast we were both taken aback.
I even said, Wait, Really??
Chase said "Are you sure?"

But there it was on that screen, loud and clear.
The surprise was short lived and we quickly exclaimed our excitement.
I have to tell you,
in the 3-4 days before our ultrasound,
Chase and I had totally convinced ourselves that we were having a girl.
The surprise of  being wrong made the ultrasound so exciting!

I love how his whole body is rolled up like that.  He is so cute already!

I can't wait to see Beck as an older brother.
I can just picture my two boys throwing rocks,
playing army guys,
and of course shooting hoops and throwing balls to at each other.

People keep telling me that I have a wild couple of years ahead.
I am sure they are right,
and I can't wait!!!!

baby sites

My dear dear sister is adopting!
I seriously can't wait to meet that little guy...
We were chatting today and she asked what baby websites I frequent.
I thought I'd put the list together here because I wonder if others would be curious too!
This was my go-to site during Pregnancy and after.
I still get their weekly developmental emails and I LOVE them!
Baby Center

Toys I covet. I have always fancied wooden toys...these are all just so darling.
This site shows you how to make your own baby food.
I found it very easy and fulfilling to make Beck's food when he was still eating "mush".

I get daily emails from Zulily.  Its a little bit like groupon, but for baby's and kid stuff!

Here is a baby blog that I like.  They have some good recommendations and touching stories.
I loved their post called: Brands we Love.  ADORABLE clothes.

Here are a couple shoe companies.  Soft soles for new walkers, they STAY on their feet,
 and they last forever!

So, what baby-related sites do you love? I'd love to hear them!

this little guy...

...is ELEVEN months old!

and I can't even believe it.
What is even crazier- is that he'll be a YEAR in one month.
I am frantically trying to figure out how to freeze him so he can be my baby forever.  so far, no luck.

It feels like every day he learns so much more, looks so much older.
His latest tricks are dancing when he hears music, and smacking his lips for kisses.  We love it.
He tries to stand on his own every now and then, but only lasts a few seconds.
I'm fine with him taking his time to walk honestly!

His little personality (and attitude!) is coming out a lot more lately.  I think he will be a tease.
The kid still loves all food, and is slowly weening himself.
He still nurses twice a day but I can tell its all business for him and then he wants to get to exploring.
He really has developed into a great little sleeper.
He has learned to put himself back to sleep if he wakes in the night.
This has also made naptime much easier on Momma, which historically he has not been very good at.
Happy Eleven months little man.  Your parents sure LOVE you!!!!

longer out than in

Nine whole months.  The same amount of time he was in my tummy.  I can barely remember what life was like without this little guy. He has changed my life (for the good) in more ways than I can count.

I followed Beck around taking pictures of the busy fella but all of the sudden my computer won't read my card... Anyone have any ideas of what to do?! I'm panicking! I guess I'll just give you some recent shots that I had already uploaded.
Beck loves his special time with Daddy
This is his "squeeling with excitement face"
Beck's best friend is his cousin Tayler-who now lives 10 minutes away-YAY!
He watches every thing she does

loves his food...he has graduated to much chunkier foods and he thinks he is so cool when he  feeds himself
always quick to smile-especially at Daddy

Everyone stops us to comment on his big brown eyes.
Something about them just captures people...and me too
A few things about Beck at nine months:
He has been crawling since 8 months, and pulling himself up on things right around the same time.  He gets more and more daring every day.  In the last week he has cut 3 teeth and has 2 more popping out now.  I have noticed that they bothered him but he is still a happy boy.  Beck does this little lounge thing on the ground when he is playing.  It is hilarious!  I have pictures but I'll add them when I can get my memory card working again.  He has always loved music.  If anyone around him is singing, he has to join in.  Watching him grow is so exciting.  Every day you can see him learn and become more independent.
